The Last Line of Defense

These cards today will be of some of my Goalie cards. Let's start with the Ladies first.

The card on the left is the 2026 Topps Chrome U.S. Olympics certified autograph card of Aerin Frankel. These cards all the autographs are a sticker(Band-Aid) which I am ok with but if I had to choose I would choose an on card auto. The cards being chrome these cards do tend to curl if not kept in a holder or sheet. These cards do have beautiful vivid colors.

The other card on the right is the 2024-25 Upper Deck PWHL Purple Dazzlers card of Kristen Campbell. These cards I like but I like the ones that came out a few years before as those had much more sparkle to them.

This card is from the 2007-08 In The Game Between the Pipes Mask card of Gilles Gratton while playing for the New York Rangers. These cards are metallic looking and this mask is one of my favorites. The mask could very easy cause fright to opposing players. Imagine seeing this mask for the first time, it had to be frightening.

This card is from the 2007-08 In the Game Between The Pipes Mask card of Gerry Cheevers. Another favorite mask of mine and quite possibly the most popular. The stitches on the mask are from each time the puck struck Cheevers mask.

This card is the 1973-74 Topps Rookie card of Goalie Gilles Gilbert. I got Gilles to sign this card for me and of all of the hockey autographs I say that he has the nicest autograph. After getting this card back from Gilles about 3 weeks later he passed away. He was a great goalie and signer for his fans and will be missed.

The first card is the 2010-11 Wisconsin Badgers card of Alex Rigsby. She won an Olympic Gold medal in 2018 and in 2022 she won a Silver medal. The card in the middle is the 2011-12 Wisconsin Badgers card of goalie Becca Ruegsegger. She played 2 seasons with the Badgers winning 19 games in those 2 seasons while losing 8 games. The card on the right is the 2024 Upper Deck PWHL card of goalie Elaine Chuli of the Montreal Victoire. I got her to sign this card for me.

This card is the 2001-02 card of Melissa Glaser and she was an excellent goaltender for the Buckeyes. She signed this card for me and this is one auto that I did want and was delighted when I got it.

And finally These next cards I am so proud to own because of what transpired today. Speaking of the last line of defense this next card speaks for itself.

This card is the 2024 Upper Deck PWHL card of Aerin Frankel and I have got several cards of her signed. She is one of the Best goaltenders in the PWHL. Today she became an Olympic Gold Medal winner as Team USA beat Team Canada in a thrilling 2-1 overtime win.

These 3 cards are the 2019 Topps Allen & Ginter card of Hilary Knight. Knight won her second gold medal today when Team USA defeated Team Canada 2-1 in overtime. With team USA trailing 1-0 in the third period. With minutes to play and Team USA net empty for the extra attacker Knight tipped a Laila Edwards shot past Team Canada's goalie Ann-Renee Desbiens knotting the game 1-1.

The card on the right is the 2024-25 Upper Deck PWHL card of Megan Keller and the card on the right is the 2023-24 Tim Hortons card of Olympic hero Megan Keller. Keller scored the overtime winner giving Team USA the Gold Medal today over Team Canada.

This card is the 2026 Topps Chrome U.S. Olympics For Pride & Country card of Hilary Knight. I thought it would be fitting for this card being last. Hilary Knight has had such an illustrious career. Winning her second gold medal and scoring her 15th Olympic goal breaking the record held by Katie King and Natalie Darwitz. She also became the all-time Olympics points leader with her 33rd point. This is another one of my favorite cards and she sure does play with pride.

Congratulations to Team USA winning Gold in Milano Cortina. That was a great game and I like/dislike overtime because it could go either way that is the dislike part the like part is that feeling when your team scores the game winner. Congratulations to Team Canada on a well played game and making team USA earn the gold. Both teams are winners and in time the hurt will fade away and the thoughts of returning and trying again is what keeps the players going and wanting more.

Thanks for checking out my blog and I look forward to your responses. Happy Collecting!!!

  3. Whoa. You have a very impressive autograph collection. I'm a big fan of the Pinnacle Mask cards from the 90's. That's really cool that In The Game carried on the tradition into the 00's.

  4. Yeah the masks cards are one of my favorite subset. The metallic flash and it has a rainbow effect in the light. Cheevers mask is probably the most popular but the one of Gilles Gratton is a favorite of mine.
